ENERGY STAR Home Assessment

With energy cost going up every year, we are ready to do whatever it  takes to make our home energy efficient. Where do we begin?
Today’s energy-conscious homeowners are turning to Georgia Power — The Energy Expert®, for ways to better manage their home energy usage and lower their power bills. Homeowners are often faced with multiple home energy challenges including drafty windows and doors, rooms that fluctuate between being either too hot or too cold, and high humidity levels that can cause mold.
A Comprehensive Approach
A comprehensive approach to home energy efficiency improvement is what Home Performance with ENERGY STAR is all about. If you’re interested in improving your existing home energy performance or if you’re remodeling and renovating your existing home this is a program for you. You can increase your homes energy efficiency, help reduce energy costs, improve overall indoor air quality, and create a more comfortable, healthier and safe home for your family. You’ll also be helping to protect the environment through energy conservation.
Financial Incentives
Financial incentives are available to help offset the cost of the assessment and the improvements. All incentives are subject to specific improvements meeting pre-determined Test-out requirements (post-diagnostic testing). Please discuss with your contractor for more details. Diagnosing the Problem
Instead of guessing what the cause of any of your home’s performance problems are a qualified home performance contractors uses diagnostic equipment to test your home for problems and solutions. Rather than focusing on a single component, such as single-paned windows, an old air conditioning system, or leaky ductwork, a participating contractor will assess how improvements to all of these energy-related components and systems can work together more effectively. Home Performance with ENERGY STAR offers a holistic approach to creating a more energy efficient and healthy home environment. This will result in:
• Fewer drafts
• Consistent temperatures across rooms
• Better ventilation and humidity control
• Lower utility bills
Home improvement contractors, certified by The Building Performance Institute, Inc., will perform a thorough whole-house Home Performance with ENERGY STAR assessment. Choosing a contractor qualified to work in Georgia Power’s home performance program will then provide you a complete cost effective report of improvements for your home and inform you of energy efficiency incentives.
